The tired industrial bones of a vacant warehouse in Barcelona have been given a new lease of life as a coworking space.

Architect Oriol Hostench transformed the long-abandoned warehouse in Sant Antoni into a light-filled hub for Cahoot Coworking space, which welcomes the city’s creatives.

Says Cahoot’s co-founder Even Tobiensen: ‘Due to the licensing it has been vacant for 15 years and it took a lot of time to convince the town hall [for us] to be allowed to re-purpose the space.’

Hostench has preserved the building’s rugged physique as part of its adaptive reuse: steel beams and trusses are exposed beneath the coworking space’s vaulted roof, while floors are rough concrete. An indoor garden has taken root beneath one of the building’s huge skylights, with desks and seating areas fanning out around the accessible space.
