Coworking Spaces to Become Study Halls

WeWork, an industry leader in coworking spaces, recently teamed up with Flatiron, a coding bootcamp, and MissionU, a one-year college alternative, to offer 2U, an online learning program management company which offers the best of both worlds: a collaborative coworking space that students can also use as a study hall.

That’s right: online learning is getting a brick and mortar space.

This project will give online learners a physical component, a place to connect with other students, create community, and participate in a real network of people working toward a common goal of credit, a certificate, or a degree.

In the partnership between WeWork and 2U, WeWork gives 2U students a physical place to learn and study. Students in the 2U community have an organic way to find physical classmates.

While the coworking study space will not replace sprawling campuses and classrooms, they are giving online students a way to connect and recreate the digital learning space.
