Women-focused coworking space The Wing gets backing from Airbnb and WeWork in $75mn funding round | Cloud Computing

The Wing, a startup which provides a network of work and community spaces for women, has gained the backing of Airbnb, WeWork and Sequoia Capital in its latest funding round.

The startup raised $75mn in its Series C funding round, gaining support form Airbnb, Upfront Ventures as well as existing investors NEA and WeWork.


Notable figures such as actress and producer Kerry Washington and producer Katie McGrath also contributed to the round, both of which have been outspoken figures in the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements.

Elsewhere, US Women’s National Soccer Team players Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Meghan Klingenberg and Becky Sauerbrunn also took a stake.

Founded in 2016, the Wing has locations in New York, Washington DC and San Francisco, with new locations slated to open in West Hollywood, Chicago, Boston London Toronto and Paris next year.

In total, the Wing co-founders Audrey Gelman and Lauren Kassan have raised a total of US$117.5mn.

In a statement, Gelman said that the investment will enable the firm “to further The Wing’s mission and scale to new heights both offline and online.”
