The Seattle-based female-focused co-working space operator will open its sixth facility this March in Austin’s West Central neighborhood at 1145 W. 5th St. The new 12,000 square-foot location will mimic other Riveter spaces with floating and dedicated desks, private offices, and room for events. Pricing has not been announced.
Founded in 2017, The Riveter differentiates itself from other co-working spaces by providing amenities, programming, and other membership perks geared toward female professionals.
The Riveter, which is open to all genders (25 percent of members are men), has more than 2,000 members across five existing locations in Seattle and Los Angeles. The company aims to open eight new locations in 2019 and reach 100 by 2022.
A report last year from the Global Coworking Unconference Conference projected that there will be more than 30,000 co-working spaces by 2022, with 5.1 million members. It also noted that niche spaces including The Riveter are expanding the market beyond traditional operators such as WeWork, now valued at $45 billion.
